USES:
Crystalline glucose, as a monosaccharide, is widely used in pharmaceutical, foodstuff, and chemical industry, as well as a product for direct consumption and a sweetener. It is a high-calorie product, easily assimilated by the organism, it energizes and strengthens the heart’s pumping action. It is an excellent strengthening supplement for periods of recovery, exhaustion and intensive physical exercise. Glucose can be used as a sweetener for baby foods and drinks. Due to its considerable sweetness, it is used in production confectionery, dietary products, desserts, ice-cream, drinks, supplements and fruit preservatives. In chemical industry, it is a basic ingredient for production of sorbitol, a sweetener for diabetics, and in production of citric acid. In foodstuff industry, glucose is used mostly for its sweetness-enhancing and flavour-enhancing properties. It is used in production of confectionary, ice-cream, desserts, dry food mixes, non-alcoholic beverages, fruit and vegetable products. It is an excellent alternative for sucrose in production of chewing gum and bubble gum. In baking and confectionery, crystalline glucose is used as a natural browning agent and preservative. It is and excellent source of food for candida, as well as a filler and texture-enhancing agent. Addition of glucose in bear and wine production facilitates fermentation processes and affects the wine’s bouquet and its characteristics favourably. Glucose is used as a sweetness-regulating agent in beverages produced from juice concentrates and in production of instant and bubble beverages. In meat industry, it is used as an ingredient of ham marinates.
